Riviera Audio Labs and AudioNec | High End 2022 – Marc Phillips, PTA

Riviera Audio Labs and AudioNec | High End 2022

Marc Phillips, Part Time Audiophile, May 29th, 2022

Marc Phillips writes a review about the system that he highlighted as the best sound of the show (of 5), the system composed by the loudspeakers AudioNec EVO 3  (pasive version), and Riviera electronic:

“[…]

Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from the Riviera Audio Labs and AudioNec system. It took me about a minute to realize that this was a superb system, with extraordinary top-to-bottom coherence, plenty of dynamics, and bass that felt both pure and visceral. I spent a decade submerged in Italian high-end audio–AudioNec, by the way, is French–and I’ve never felt this much power and authority before. Emotional? Warm? Gorgeous midrange? Absolutely. But this was an Italian/French system that absolutely kicked my butt–in a very enjoyable way, of course.

The Riviera Labs room sneaks into my Top Five at Munich–even with the amazing roller disco karaoke machine thingy stealing the thunder from the other pieces of the system. The sound is what I’ll remember.

Best Sound in Munich | High End 2022 – Marc Phillips, PTA June 2022

Marc Phillips makes a summary of his visit to the High End Munich 2022 fair, with the list of the top five teams with the best sound at the fair:

Let’s talk about my Top Five runners-up first. First up was Riviera Labs and AudioNec, who exhibited a crazy funky Xanadu-style music server that lit up all pretty and still managed to engage me with a pure, exciting sound. That’s the real reason to head to Munich–you get to hear awesome brands that you’ve never seen before. Now that the Riviera Audio Labs amplifiers are available in the United States, I’m making a concerted effort to get something in for review.

In the same online magazine, Marc Phillips does a full review of the AudioNec EVO 3 passive speakers that could be heard at the show, along with Riviera Labs electronics. The summary of that translated review can be read here.

Munich HIGH END 2022 – José Manuel Delgado, HiFi Live – May 2022

We are very proud that JOSÉ MANUEL DELGADO, from HiFi Live, in his summary of his visit to the Munich High End 2022 fair, includes one of our brands, AudioNec, among one of the three systems that he considered “the best of the show”:

[…]

It is time to get my feet wet and indicate, for the writer of this article, which were the three systems that would take the cat to the water as the best in the show:

  • Room of the Danish cable manufacturer ZenSati with Lorenzo Audio Labs LM-1 speakers, electronics from the Greek Ypsilon and AMG source with Clearaudio Goldfinger Statement capsule.
  • Room of the French manufacturer AudioNEC presenting its top-of-the-range Evo model (passive) with hybrid electronics from the Italian Riviera Audio and digital source prototype version of AudioNEC itself
  • Room of the Greek firm Tune Audio with 105dBs horn loudspeakers with Rockna digital source and 12 watt amplification from Trafomatic model Glenn (the vu-meter did not move at more than 95dBs of SPL!)

The AudioNec model that José Manuel refers to in his review is the AudioNec EVO 3 passive version. The even better news is that there is still a higher model, the top model is the AudioNec EVO 4.

“Best Sound of the Show” Klangschlss 2022 . Silvan Karrer, avguide.ch (April 2022)

Report: Klangschloss 2022

Silvan Karrer, April 19, 2022

Comeback of the sound castle 2022

Of course we were there in the Klangschloss on the beautiful Greifensee and collected our impressions for you. One thing in advance: the high-end scene in Switzerland is alive – and how!

Roof space, part 2: Audionec loudspeakers on Dartzeel electronics

The setup of the Soundrevolution sales vis-à-vis was optically a completely different caliber – at the other end of the rainbow, so to speak, also in terms of price. The elegant and visually very striking Dartzeel electronics in the characteristic gold/red and the equally exotic Audionec loudspeakers with the duopole midrange driver could not be overlooked and overheard. The room, acoustically optimized with Steinmusic devices and PSI audio bass traps, was a real experience. For the avguide.ch editorial team, it was the “Best Sound of the Show”. An interview with Mr. Dartzeel, Hervé Deletraz, is scheduled for mid-year.

Premios On Off 2022 - AudioNec EVO 1

2022 On Off Awards: AudioNec EVO 1

AudioNec’s EVO line of loudspeakers has received the award in the special category for Best Design of the ON OFF 2022 Awards from On Off Magazine.

ON OFF Special Best Design in High End Audio AudioNec EVO-1

AudioNec EVO-1

A modular and scalable speaker system with an aesthetic that does not leave indifferent and a sound that will seduce enthusiasts of the best music.

The concept of scalability has always been particularly attractive in high-end consumer electronics, let alone in the more exclusive High End, where high prices often intimidate users who demand full guarantees regarding the preservation of the investment made with the passage of time is concerned.

Radical French purism

This is how the very purist French AudioNec has understood it, whose EVO speakers -which saw the light of day in 2019- respond to a concept of scalability and modularity that is very well thought out that allows not only to go up from one model to another in the range -for example from EVO-1 to EVO-2- but also through the different versions of the same model. All this, complemented by a decidedly different industrial design – which is not easy at all in such a competitive product segment – which facilitates integration into all types of spaces, from the most open to the most luxurious. What we have just said suggests that this award could have been given to any of the EVOs, although we have chosen the EVO-1 Standard because of its status as a base model in the range.

What stands out about the EVO-1 Standard? First of all, that it is a model with passive filtering, and secondly, the exceptionality of its wide-band mid / high pass-through transducer, called Duopole DS.31 and the latest evolution of a device created several decades ago. by an American named Paul Paddock. This transducer is mounted in an elegant structure whose lower part houses a bass-reflex subwoofer equipped with a very high quality conventional electrodynamic loudspeaker. Thanks to the particular design of the AudioNec, the owner of the EVO-1 Standard has the option of upgrading to the version equipped with active subwoofers (that is, actively amplified and filtered), called EVO-1 AS, and hence to the EVO-1 Signature, which adds to the previous endowment a sophisticated digital signal processing electronics signed by one of the undisputed leaders in the field, the French Trinnov.

New AudioNec Evo Speakers line! – MonoandStereo.com, Abril 2019

“And finally a bit more info about the new AudioNec Evo Speaker line. This new range of speakers represent the AudioNec modular speakers system that allow the customer to start with a “small” speaker and budget (Evo < 20 k€) and finish with an ultimate and unique system (Evo 4 > 175 k€). The Eno line implements the new wideband driver “Duopole DS” whose height is 31 cm. This new driver benefits from the qualities of its elder, the intrinsic qualities of Duopole drivers have allowed AudioNec to be at the top of the qualitative pyramid in terms of sound reproduction. As its name suggests, the new Evo range introduces the concept of speaker system scalability thanks to the smaller Duopole height, it opens the door to modular speakers.”

AudioNec Evo #2 Loudspeakers – by Dr. Matthew Clott

AudioNec Evo #2 Loudspeakers
These speakers will not be for everyone, and not for every amplifier.
Review By Dr. Matthew Clott

EnjoyTheMusic.com – June 2020

Conclusion
“When offered the opportunity to review something my internal excito’meter drifts into one of four categories ranging from, “OK, for the good of the publication,” to “Are you F’in kidding me? I get to review that?!?” I will openly admit that I liked these speakers before I heard them. I would guess they are visually polarizing, but find them aesthetically to be quite purpose-built and are the best-executed version of what they are. Their neutrality, their sense of realism and refinement, their looks, and their wonderful dynamic scale set these unique speakers apart from their competition. Within their price range, there is very stiff competition. These speakers will not be for everyone, and not for every amplifier. Yet if you put the time in to audition them, plus give time to adjust to their wonderful neutrality, and also match them to a system that plays to their unified sonic signature, only then will you be rewarded.”
